About sequel

Rucka: We’re gonna moving forward and there has been an unofficial announcement since I can’t really say any thing yet.I will say it took a little longer for everybody evolved in making this decision to sort of get everything together to make the decision. But as of couple of weeks ago it’s looking very good and I’m personally waiting on some contract stuff to get finished up, because I’ve done a lot of work in the last 6 months on what I will write. But I ain’t gonna write a word of it until I get paid. (Laugh Laugh Laugh) So I feel(? Mimi talks too loud) So hopefully that will be resolved soon because I know that they would love to have a script soon. (Mimi:then the fans could be hopeful) I think you can buy a lottery ticket on the odds that there will be an Old Guard 2.

More Nicky&Joe PLZ!

Any chance for writing comic spin-off of just Nicky&Joe?

Rucka: I’m going to give you a suite of exclusive here. We are doing an Old Guard anthology, it’s gonna be 6 issues, 2 stories in each issue, each story in 12 pages…it’s gonna be called ‘the old guard tales through time’. And we’ve invited some folks to come and write some stories set in the cannon…we have bunch of artists and writers I’m not gonna say who yet. Leo and I are gonna do the very first story and the very last story, and then we are getting to work on the third series. There will be more Nicky and Joe, they are not going anywhere.

Joe and Nicky are they ever seperated willingly or otherwise?

Rucka: Uhm… (repeat the question) They’ve never decided they needed to take time off from one another, that is what the question is. They…you know…come on! A thousand years! They’ve been a few days weren’t side by side. … Andy going off for 50 years that’s an Andy thing, Joe and Nicky had never been apart for that long. … They are absolutely in love with each other and absolutely take comfort for each other and um… One other thing I’m actually hoping they are gonna be about to get to in the second film that is they are not identical. They can disagree. They can fight with each other. But it doesn’t mean they love each other any less or that their relationship is in in jeopardy. I’m not a fan of … the trope that says as soon as people hook up the drama is gone because obviously those kind of people are never gonna be married. And I hove no interest…I’m not gonna break them off, why would I do that? That’s just… that’s not who they are. They can be really pissed at each other, but they… neither of them would for a second thing that they are wrong with how they feel for each other.

Deleted Scene

Rucka: I don’ know!!! I-DONT-KNOW. Because it is Netflix, right? I have no idea if they’re ever ever gonna be seen anywhere.(…) There is so much stuffs before and after and around that doesn’t get used. And sometimes you don’t use it because it’s like ‘It’s not really good…’ or ‘It’s just doesn’t necessary.’. And efficiency especially at the cutting stage, you’re working towards efficiency and clarity. There are shots you can see it in the trailers. There’s a sequence when…you watch Joe arriving in Goussainville, and he drives in and he parks the car and he gets out with the groceries and he checks the perimeter…and a jet flies overhead and he looks up at the jet, and then you cut into the church and it’s day. And Nicky is on post and he knocks, it is this beautiful wordless scene. …It was one of the first scene I actually got to see them shoot when I arrived, Joe enters, Nicky closes the door, locks it up, they look at each other… and again there’s no dialog it’s simply there’s sort of head…there’s a forehead touch. ‘I’m glad you’re back.’ That’s all it is. And it’s this silent little moment, and they go off to the rectory. Lots of the stuffs that got cut was the character stuffs, is supposed to story slash plot stuffs, so was detail stuffs. I don’t know how we find those … everybody needs to write to Netflix and say ‘I will buy A Old Guard Blu-ray, with EXTRAs.’

About Marwan(’s poems)

Rucka:(searching…) Marwan…so sets are really boring, if you are an actor particular, because you wait around for setups. And… Marwan always had a book. And I think Luca DID too, but I really remember seeing Marwan. It’s funny because Marwan…sort of that I don’t know him very well but personality why is more like Nicky. He’s very thoughtful and clearly he’s a very deep thinker, he thinks about these stuffs.(Rucka can’t find the poem TT) I’m sure it’s somewhere in old emails. I know I had got at least one email that Marwan had found and sent it.
